Last week we talked about the value of LinkedIn and all the potential connections you can make when you use it to its full potential. If you missed it, check it out here. This week’s post is all about the different ways you can use LinkedIn and the best way to get into it.
Firstly, I want to highlight the difference between having a personal LinkedIn profile and a company page.
People connect with people. If you want to connect with people, you need to have a personal profile. Your personal profile is a great way to make genuine connections with others, both in your industry and beyond. Remember, networking is the foundation of expanding your business, no matter how big or small it is. A personal profile gives you the chance to own who you are, showcase your personality, and share what you can do for your clients.
Your company page is showing more your expertise and credibility. It establishes who and what is at the heart of your business. This is where you can really amplify your business’ core values and pillars.
At the end of the day, you could put a ton of effort into your company page, but if people aren’t following that page, what’s the point?
Having both a personal profile and company page means you can publish different content to each while making sure they’re connected and aligned. Ultimately, the two work together to show the person or people behind the brand without leaving any of the important business elements behind.
What’s important to note here is that the profile and the page interact differently and serve different purposes, but they work together to maximise your outreach. Recognising the range of different connection types you have across both your personal profile and your company page will open up the door to expanding your business.
Using LinkedIn to its full potential means appreciating and nurturing your entire network. This means consistently! Don’t expect to just put it out there and then wait for opportunities to come to you. Not yet, anyway…
Understanding who’s in your network means knowing where potential clients or referral partners might come from in the future. Keeping in touch with them regularly means that when they get a chance to recommend you, they will!
